HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS? //

Overall, the combination between the main product (the music video) and the ancillary texts (Digipak and Magazine Advert) are effective as there is a clear and coherent connection between the 3 advertising products. Therefore, by having this connection, the audience are able to appreciate the underlying themes and messages of the narrative video as they are visually displayed. The colour palettes are the same between all 3, which creates a significant style to stand out clearly. The image used is also from a still in the video, however when manipulated into this faded smoke effect, it is much more eye catching and follows Hozier’s technique of a collage/artistic front cover for his album – a trademark. This artistic manipulation is also a common convention of indie genre music; therefore, it conforms to the forms and conventions. However, the message of fire and arson is still rather cryptic in the sense that I have used subtle hints, such as orange and smoke in the ancillary texts, rather than addressing this theme directly like the reoccurring footage in the music video. Despite this though, there are still hints and therefore by only slightly doing this on the ancillary texts, then the audience would more likely to be intrigued to understand it - therefore, buy, stream or watch ‘Arsonist’s Lullabye’ and increase profits.
